Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are a small Title I public school full of enthusiastic students eager to learn and grow. This year, we are starting a softball, basketball and soccer team amongst our upper grade students. I want students to be more excited and motivated to come to school so they can be part of these activities. Since we are in the beginning process of developing these teams, we are in dire need of soccer balls, baseballs and gloves, shin guards and other sports equipment and t-shirts for team uniforms.

Sports are a great way for students to learn how to work with others, encourage and support their teammates, build confidence and leadership skills and listen and learn from other authoritative figures.

Research has proven the many benefits of sports as outlets for effectively learning teamwork, goal-setting, discipline, physical coordination, stress relief and confidence, all of which are transferable skills and traits applicable in the classroom, moreover in life itself.

Providing the students with opportunities such as joining sports, will bring an even greater love for school. We want to improve our attendance. We want to create activities that encourage our students to participate. We want to develop a positive culture within our students and school. We would appreciate any support you can give to our small but mighty school.
