I need to reach every student at their level of learning and understanding through technology and strategies that allow for differentiation in this digital age of teaching & learning.
More than half of our student population are from low income households. Although we are a small school district with limited funding, we work hard to provide a variety of opportunities and enrichment activities tailored to address each individual learning need and style. The benefit of a small student body is that we can build respectful ongoing connections with each learner. Technology in the classroom has been an integral source of fostering these connections, growth and creativity.
As students make meaningful connections to classroom content through technology, they become more active learners.
Students are more engaged and actively participate in activities when the activities include some form of technology. Many of my students admit to being fearful about learning new math skills, however, they forget that anxiety when they use technology to mathematically engage them.
My Project
The effective facilitator of learning recognizes the importance of understanding characteristics, challenges, motivations and skills that affect student learning. Through reflective practices, my goal is to make learning to be more visible by commanding an appreciation of continuous discovery, experimentation and improvement.
The ISTE conference will provide me with tools and resources to help improve student learning and achievement as we embrace the digital age of teaching and learning.
Before I introduce any learning tool or resource to my students, it is important for me to learn what is available and how to integrate it into lessons and learning activities. This conference will provide learning for me to share with my students. I will grow professionally and apply strategies and tools in my classroom that I learn during this conference of educators and tech savvy professionals. The ISTE conference will equip me with resources to address the whole student and technically improve my teaching pedagogy.
