This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students that will be in my class this upcoming school year are cheerful and full of questions. I know they are worried and curious about their new school experience, whether it is at home or classroom, and their new teacher. Some of these students perhaps have never been to school and may feel they are not ready.
These students come from low income families and 100% of these students receive free school meals.
Our school as well has limited funds to provide the teachers with organizational tools such as pencil boxes. As an educator, I need to be prepared for the new school year.
My Project
Students will not only learn concepts of print, but also other subjects.
For example, students will learn about equality, diversity, and justice.
The books make for great learning of topics that are relevant in today's classrooms. Students need to be exposed to a wide range of literacy genres and topics. This will create a child that has a long range of vocabular to better express him or herself and can see different perspectives, not just his or her own. Having the books at home will give the child more time to explore the literture.
