Help me give my students the book Iliad. Students are highly engaged with this story and will be thrilled to be able to keep it for their own libraries.

My Project
Our students participate in a year-long college level seminar course in their junior and senior years at school (also their first two years of our Early College program). All of our students engage in conversations that revolve around central texts hat speak to humanity's universal questions of life and death and everything in between.
Students delve deep into one of the essential texts of this series, "The Illiad," that great epic which traverses the range of human motives and emotions.
Oddly relatable for adolescents, they are able to engage in class wide conversations about the text because it is a shared reading.
Offering the students the opportunity to keep their own copies to add to their personal libraries serves as an example for what we hope will be a life-long practice of cherishing the books they read and the stories within them. Being able to annotate, add post-its and even underline the parts they most related to fosters a conversation between a long-dead Homer and a teen in 2025.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
