Environmental Stewardship: Reducing Greenhouse Gases through Worm Composting
Help me give my students worm composting bins, Red Wiggler worms, and compressed coco coir to learn about recycling food waste into useful compost for our school garden.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Chris's classroom raised $491

My Project
We are not afraid to get messy and approach slimy worms, we just need composting containers worms, and coconut coir! Our students did so well maintaining a small worm farm and we would like to grow our food waste recycling initiative.
In addition to learning about the environmental impact of food waste our students will be cultivating independence by learning vocational skills that may lead to a job in the recycling industry.
We will learn what is appropriate for our worms to process and how the finished worm castings can be used in our new school garden. Once we learn what our worms like to eat we will share that information amongst our school community so we can recycle our school lunch waste thereby reducing our methane footprint.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
