Environmental Science

My students need science supplies to help support the Next Generation Science Standards for 5th grade. We need supplies as simple as vinegar and baking soda to live butterfly kits, gravity kits, and flowering plant kits.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The almost 1000 students at our school live in a low-income neighborhood with limited access to basic school supplies. We are a Title I school with almost all of the students qualifying for free breakfast and free lunch each day.

Although my students have limited access to resources, they are enthusiastic to come to school each day to learn many new standards.

I look forward to giving my students many of the much-needed supplies this year by asking the generous donors of DonorsChoose to provide these supplies.

My Project

Recently, our school district started to use the next-generation science standards for all of the grade levels. Currently, we still have science books that do not address many of the science standards, so we need science supplies and kits to help me be able to effectively teach the students these new standards.

I would like some plant growing supplies, gravity kits, modeling clay to create models, chemical reaction kits, live butterfly kits, flowering plant science kits, plant light house, and colored markers to use to draw diagrams in their science journals.

With these new science supplies, I am hoping to get a jump-start on teaching the new science standards to my class. With many of the new complete science kits, I will have all of the necessary supplies to provide my students with a hands-on science experiment for each of the science standards.

Thank you for considering our project.
