This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very energetic 7- and 8-year-olds who are excited about learning. They love to read and write and engage in conversations with their peers. They are eager to read both literature and nonfiction and write about what they’ve read. Many of my students began elementary school without foundational reading skills, but they have been working hard to attain grade-level standards. Most of my students are second language learners. Reading in the classroom is essential to their continued success!
My Project
My students are in a Magnet program that focuses on Science, Technology, and Engineering. They are in this program because they have a love and talent for these sciences. Due to limited resources, they are not able to explore and reach their full potential in these areas. The Engineering and Robotics book would give me invaluable ideas and lessons that I would use with my students to further their knowledge and development in this subject. The oil spill kit will help my students understand the dangers facing our environment. It will allow my students real world practice and help them develop solutions to problems facing the world.
