Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I see myself as a “D teacher." A “D teacher" you might ask? I feel I am a “D teacher” because I am a Determined, Dedicated, and Driven to do what it takes to help my students succeed. One of my goals this year is to help my 5th grade students become well-rounded students. I would like them to learn more about the environment and what they can do to help. To do this, I have selected a wide variety of hands-on materials, including an Environmental Quality Kit, a Reduce, Reuse & Recycle Activity Kit, and Bill Nye DVDs and books to help build these important skills.
Right now, I don’t have the materials I need in order to teach about the environment in the way that I have come up with. That is why I am working to bring rich materials into my classroom that will help me teach my students crucial skills that they need in order to well-rounded students. I plan to use the requested materials in my 5th grade classroom, wherever my teaching career leads me.
The science tools I have requested will make it so each student can participate in hands-on activities that will help them learn first-hand what causes harm to the environment and what they can do to help preserve resources and prevent future environmental damage. The hands-on approach used by these resources will provide a perfect engagement opportunity to raise awareness in both the students and the local community.
Your support will help my 5th grade students to better understand the environment. These resources will not be available without your support. Thank you for your consideration and desire to help make a difference for our students!
