My Project

Just as the peddler in the children's book, Caps for Sale, carries caps for many different people, this project will carry financial literacy skills that can be differentiated for a variety of learners.

My students earn class money when they complete assignments, stay on task, do classroom jobs, hallway behavior, etc.

They have asked if they could "buy" a baseball cap from our classroom store. One goal for this project is by giving my students the baseball caps, iron on patches, and chenille letters my students will work harder to earn class dollars. They will have to purchase every item that they want to press on their hat and will have to save more money. Therefore, the second goal is that they set up a savings goal. How much money do they need to save in order to purchase a cap, an iron on, or chenille letter? The third goal is that they will learn how to count higher amounts of money and figure out how much change they should get back. These materials will give them more practice for this goal because they will be purchasing and getting change back more frequently.

My students are really excited that I wrote this project for these materials. They already told me to tell you, "Thank you for helping us!"
