This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful, and energetic. They enjoy movement and singing. My students love to learn new things. They come to school each day ready to conquer the world.
My class of second graders, ages 7 & 8, are striving to become life-long learners through the difficult and impoverished home-life.
Some are even helping their parents raise their siblings and trying to work towards grade-level status in all subject areas.
With the help of DonorsChoose.org, my goal is to help my students attain their dreams, regardless of their circumstances.
My Project
My students have begun to understand the importance of reading. They look forward to shared reading and independent reading on a daily basis.
The newly-arrived listening center has become a part of their everyday life in the classroom.
Although the books at the listening center are at a higher reading level, students really enjoy listening to them. They are able to follow the words which in turn expands their vocabulary.
With the help of DonorsChoose.org, the listening center will grow as my readers grow as well. The books chosen are their independent level which will meet students needs. Listening to them will assist them in improving their reading skills and level, supporting ENTHUSIASTIC READERS!
