This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember picking a book out of the library in your classroom? The feeling of finding a new, exciting, challenging book? Well my students only have the feeling for a few weeks. They need a set of higher level, challenging readers to help fuel the love of reading!
My students attend a high poverty public elementary school in Pennsylvania.
Many of the students in my classroom are ESL students. They come from a mainly Spanish households. These children are very enthusiastic learners and want to do the best they can.
My Project
My students will be able to develop their love for reading and be prepared for the challenges that await them in second grade. By having the leveled readers, my ESL students will be able to strengthen their English and at the same time raising their reading levels.
This project is to important because I fell in love with reading in first grade.
I was lucky to have a classroom with a huge library. I want my students to be able to have the same opportunities, if not more than I had as a child.
