My Project

I am asking for class sets of some third grade level chapter books for my students to practice their reading skills. Reading mysteries are the best genres to teach reading skills. They lend themselves to predicting and tis leads to good reading comprehension. Students in grade three have usually mastered the skill of reading but understanding what they have read is the main skill we work on in grade three. These books are chapter books but the chapters are short and easy to read.

The students I teach live in rural Maine on the coast.

They have limited cultural experiences and I am able to teach them about a lot of different topics while using these books to teach comprehension. In one book we read by the same author, a famous painting is stolen after it arrives from Paris. I am able to teach about famous painters and Paris, France from this book.
