This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting a class set of books for my 5th-grade students to read during our daily read-aloud. These books will be used on a daily basis as a group and we will read a chapter (or two) a day. Each student will then use the novel to create a 5-paragraph essay, Argumentative or Expository, in preparation for our state FAST Writing assessment.

My 5th graders enjoy reading chapter books and I would like to introduce them to more non-fiction novels in our read-aloud time, that are interesting and engaging and follow our Florida BEST grade-level standards.

Having this set of books will help to advance the reading skills of my 5th graders and will continue to grow their love of reading.

Unfortunately, obtaining large class sets of books at our school, that would keep my students engaged, is not an easy task.
