My Students

My students are inquisitive and thrive in a hands on environment! I have found that my students learn best when they are able to work in small group settings, so I have worked hard to create centers in my classroom so that students may have the opportunity to explore concepts independently, as well as work in a smaller, focused setting with me.

Many of my students are multi-language learners whose families do not speak fluent English.

Because of this many of my students do not get a lot of opportunity to hear books read to them in English. Including a listening center in my classroom will greatly benefit my students language development and help cultivate a love of reading.

My Project

I want to add a listening center to my classroom. Many of my student's families are non-English speaking, this means that for many of my students their access to English stories is limited. I want to give my students greater access to the rich vocabulary of classic storybooks, in a setting where they can have full control over the book and pictures. I believe building a listening center that is comfortable, peaceful, and filled with age appropriate books will help foster life long readers.

For many of my students, this is their first experience in a classroom, due to Covid-19 shut downs and added stress to their families few attended preschool.
