My students need four Chromebooks to access programs that will enrich their English skills, and to enhance their classroom learning while working in centers.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My third grade class is a room full of wonder and discovery. My students come to me with backgrounds full of rich culture and diversity. They reign from various countries from all around the world - Yemen, Poland, Bangladesh, Uzbek, and so many more. I want to help them reach their learning goals by providing them the resources they need to learn. My students are very anxious to learn and are highly motivated, they just need the tools to get them there.
My Project
My students will be using these laptops many times throughout the day. Our school is 85% ELL - meaning most of my class speaks either no English, or is very low in their English skills. We use the computers to access computer programs that will enhance their reading, speaking, and listening skills in English. I can see my students' confidence in their speaking and vocabulary usage increase as they learn more each day.
These Chromebooks will significantly help my students' daily learning lives.
We work in small groups throughout many of our lessons, and having added computers would allow us to have a computer center. Students will be able to access resources and learning games that cannot be taught solely in our classroom walls.
