Help me give my students opportunities to explore learning in creative and alternative ways. I hope to enrich my classroom with additional resources to enhance our daily lessons and extend beyond traditional learning experiences.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hello! My name is Lindsay and I previously taught at a middle school is East Harlem. I moved and changed job titles during the past five years. Due to this, I gave away many of my classroom supplies to other teachers in need. I am returning to a 5th grade, self-contained classroom in the Bronx for September. I will be working with a diverse population of student with varying needs. I have students who struggle not only with leaening but controlling their emotions as well. The goal from my principal this year is to showcase my classroom as a model for flexible seating and I hope, an engaging learning environment. My goal is to provide my students with the opportunity to learn in a setting most comfortable and appropriate for their learning profile. I would love to provide an engaging reading area and alternative options to traditional seating in my classroom. My students have so much untapped potential that is waiting to be pulled out. Please support their ability to grow!
My Project
The resources requested for this project will provide my students with opportunities to extend their learning beyond traditional methods. I plan to use these resources to extend on our lessons and create individualized learning centers around the room. By using a flexible seating model, my students will be able to use these supplies anywhere in the classroom. Many of my students struggle with direct instruction and thrive when their own learning styles have been tapped into. With the support of these materials, my students will have the ability to explore learning in new ways and use their understanding to build confidence as well as strengthen their academic foundations.
