My students need various hands on materials (dice, tiles, and beads) and a Leveled Library Mobile Storage Cart to encourage their learning throughout our school day!
A typical day in our classroom is exciting and full of opportunities. As a teacher, I strive to provide an environment that is nurturing, supportive, challenging, and full of endless opportunities. Students are engaged in individual, small group, and large group activities in our full day room!
I work in a very diverse school in South St.
Paul, Minnesota! I typically have 25 very diverse students. Some come to kindergarten with a preschool background while others do not. Some students come in the fall and know all letters, sounds, and possibly fluently reading, while other students come in not knowing how to write their name or even knowing any letters in the alphabet. Regardless of their past, these 5- or 6-year-old children are so eager to learn. They love the endless opportunities that school provides. Because of their eagerness, I want to have the tools necessary to help my students achieve their best and be at or above grade level by the end of school year.
My Project
Hello! Kindergarten students come to school with such excitement to learn! As a teacher, I want to provide my students with a plethora of experiences, along with materials to help them learn. This project would help provide our classroom with a variety of math manipulatives, reading activities, as well as organization for our classroom. These materials would give my students opportunities to work individually, in pairs, or in small groups. The book carts would be a way to keep our books organized by reading level. The alphabet beads and sight word dice would give students a hands-on way to work on letter recognition, building words, and sight word practice. The buttons and linking cubes would help students work on patterning. The CVC dice would help students use their letter and sound recognition to blend words together. The tens frame dice would help students gain subitizing strategies. These materials are very open ended so students excitement and open minds could help drive their curiosity to learn and explore. Please consider giving to this project to help our classroom give students more opportunities to choose their learning paths!
