Enriching Foreign Language Acquisition with Rosetta Stone
My students need the Rosetta Stone program for enrichment of their Spanish language program. I would like to incorporate it into the lab piece of our curriculum.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Picture yourself in a Spanish class where you are a great reader and writer, but your speaking and listening skills are not up to par. Well, after teaching Spanish for six years I noticed that overall students struggle a great deal with the speaking and listening component of our curriculum piece.
Our school is located in New York.
This prekindergarten to eighth grade school with 640 students serves an ethnically diverse population comprised of 35% African American, 60% Hispanic, 3% Asian, and 2% other. Our school expanded the middle school to include a seventh and eight grade program during the 2007-08 school year. Students in grades seven to eight experience the challenges of departmentalization and the independence of managing assignments from core and related arts teachers.
My Project
I work hard every second of my day to provide my students with the best foreign language experience. In order to do this I challenge myself as I plan lessons and revise my curriculum making the learning experiences more rigorous and life applicable for my students. I have designed a lab component for my Spanish class where students are able to use the Rosetta Stone program as an independent self paced program allowing them to practice all of the foreign language components: reading, writing, speaking, listening.
If you fund this program you will be giving students the opportunity to enjoy their foreign language experience through the use of technology and a self-paced program, allowing them to take this experience and use it for a lifetime.
