My Students
I am currently a 6th/7th grade middle school special education Science teacher in a high needs area. Since I co-teach integrated classes I have a wide range of levels including special ed, general ed, honors and English Language Learners. My students would benefit from science classroom supplies.
The majority of the students in my school are struggling financially.
Most students qualify for the state's free or reduced-price meal program. Often times, the students come into school without the necessary materials to succeed in school. Teachers are no longer able to personally give each student the resources they desire.
My Project
As part of the new science scope and sequence, students are required to understand the many ideas and concepts from all areas of science. I love doing hands-on activities and find students make more connections to the concepts when they manipulate the materials themselves. Students discover how simple machines make work easier as they build realistic models and perform hands-on experiments! This lab kit includes high-quality, extra-durable components, plus 7 hands-on experiment cards that walk students through how to build and use a pulley, an inclined plane, a wheel and axle, and more. The cards even include information on back that explains each machine and how it’s used in the real world! The 10 meter measuring tapes with enforce the metric system as the unit of measure within the science classroom. Having these physical science supplies available will help make each lesson more engaging, and more learning will be accomplished.
A student-centered curriculum is a tool that I find effective for science success.
I can't do this without your help. Please support and provide basic classroom supplies for my young scientists.
