Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We regularly use small hand percussion during music class, especially in grades PK, K, 1, and 2. When we don't have quite enough instruments for all, it presents challenges for us when doing some of our most rigorous learning. Certainly, we can take turns playing, but when students are composing their own music, they need time to play, experiment, and improvise with their own materials for a duration of time in order to come up with their best ideas.

We already have each of these instruments in class, but these additional items will bring us up to have enough for each student to have their own during class time!

Your investment helps our learning time be most efficient, so we get to more rigorous musical learning more quickly.

Additionally, when working with students in a self-contained special education class setting, hands-on instruments help all students engage with music at their own pace. When we have a 1:1 student-to-instrument ratio, all students have the opportunity to explore and keep their learning going while some students who need additional support can receive it.
