Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have always been a firm believer of the quote "It takes a village to raise a child." And being a classroom teacher I am constantly trying to provide my learners with the most beneficial, equitable education experience as I set the groundwork of their future. These multicultural learners are relying on the aid of a school community to guide them to achieve their full potential and I have been blessed to have the privilege to be their conductor for this ride!
I have been so fortunate to be a second grade ENL teacher of students who consistently rise to the challenge!
My students consist of various nationalities including Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Israeli, Albania and more. These students began 2nd grade with very little understanding of English language and grade level academics. Currently, these little go-getters, are working hard to achieve all goals they set their mind to and I know that sky is the limit.
My Project
My students have a strong love for literature and in my room we are WRITERS! We write about things that happen to us, things we learned about, how we feel, things we want to do, poetry, research projects- if it's something you can write about- we are on it.
My goal with this binding machine is to make student books as well as classwide books to reflect our craft of writing.
I think by binding their work they can reflect on the work they have done as well as have room to move forward with their writing.
My multicultural learners are more than eager to learn and with these tools, they will be able to but authors and take pride in their published work.
