Help me give my students a wooden swing, a frame for the swing, plant food, seeds, spiral auger, and petunia seeds.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The students who attend our school have various sensory needs and having a garden allows them to taste, hear, smell, touch, and see all the things!

This project will allow our students to get their hands in the dirt, feel the breeze, and enjoy the sounds and scents of nature.

The frame and wooden swing will replace our old worn down swing. Our students enjoy sitting in the swing and listening to nature. We have a large rosemary bush that currently sits behind the swing, so the students can smell the garden behind them while fulfilling their sensory needs of swinging. The swing sits in the middle of our garden so they can also hear the birds chirping and buzzing around the new humming bird feeders requested.

The flower seeds and spiral auger will be used by the students to plant beautiful flowers they can run their hands through and see from across the school. The students will feel the vibration of the auger wile getting their hands dirty planting the seeds.

The citrus spikes will help fertilize their citrus plants to keep them thriving and producing so our students can smell and taste the variety of citrus plants they take care of.
