I teach K-6th grade special education students in a Title I school located in a beautiful country setting. The students are young, so they love to walk into an environment where they feel safe and can have fun. They are excited to learn and come to school each day. When we do activities as a group everyone feels included and part of a team. When we introduce something to one student we like to give everyone the same opportunity. We have found that what works well for one, often is helpful to many.
My Project
The end of the year is always an exciting time for the students. Our school has a moving up day where the students in the entire school gather together for an assembly and then travel to their next year's classroom to meet their teacher and fellow classmates for the next year. A celebration of completing the current year and an adventure to see what is coming for the following year. It is always fun to meet the students and do a fun activity or two.
A special gift helps to make a special connection.
As we move towards the end of the school year we love to send the kids off with a special gift for the summer. The tumblers will be filled with the fish, a package of Kool aid and a crazy straw. The following message will be attached: It's O-fish-al, enjoy a crazy, kool summer! This gift will excite the students for summer as well as prepare them for an exciting year to come. When the students return from the summer they will be asked to write about something crazy and cool they did over the summer.
