Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students on our campus are loving, compassionate, and from an urban community with a diverse population. We are a Title I school looking to help our students develop critical thinking skills. They are motivated students who are eager to learn, be successful, and display their creativity in their academic endeavors.
Our students thrive in an enriched, playful learning environment where their academic needs call for challenging and higher-level thinking tasks.
The school community is very inviting and nurturing, which creates and fosters a safe and secure environment for all the students in which academic success, social-emotional learning, and inquiry are all priorities.
My Project
I need these books to help move myself and the staff at my school towards quality instruction that provides my students with a better level of engagement. As educators, we are constantly learning about new resources and curriculum to help our students, but books like The Curious Classroom, Inquiry Illuminated, and the Not This, But That series will provide us with timeless knowledge. We want to engage our students, and it starts with their own curiosity and how we welcome it into our classrooms to drive their learning. The books will allow us, as teachers, to provide instruction that is both engaging and transferable to their everyday lives, making them better readers and critical thinkers.
As a new teacher I am always looking to improve my practice and find the best possible ways I can engage my students, so they can come to class excited!
These books will teach me how to make our days student-centered, and keep them from being bored during reading and writing instruction. Please help me get these books to our school to help our staff enhance the quality of education given to our students!
