it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My goal for requesting mounted whiteboards and magnetic grids is to create a more dynamic and interactive space that fosters collaborative learning and academic discourse among my students. My Algebra II and Precalculus students feel less engaged when they are subjected to the same prescriptive workbook/worksheet tasks. I like to implement a lot of group work, and the use of mounted whiteboards can enhance the quality of this work by getting students out of their seats and encouraging peer-to-peer teaching.
Whiteboards enable my students to work together on complex problems, share their thought processes, and visually represent their ideas.
This collaborative approach will not only improve their understanding of math concepts but also provide a fun and interactive learning experience. I aim to increase participation and make math a more approachable and enjoyable subject for all students.
Furthermore, these whiteboards can be a platform for creative problem-solving and interactive activities for students at all levels. I envision that my group work will be more productive, and I will be able to reach more students who are in need of Tier-2 instruction. Additionally, students will be able to visually present their solutions in small groups and whole class, which encourages public speaking skills and boosts confidence. I always tell my students that the key to math isn't just memorizing all the formulas, but simply knowing you can keep trying with the tools in front of you.
