My Students

Our students live in an urban area filled with diversity. Many of our kids are English Language Learners or speak English as their second language. We strive to give them every opportunity within the four walls of our school so that they may become the future leaders of tomorrow!

They beg for more homework, ask thought-provoking questions, and come to class every day excited to learn.

Even though they may face struggles at home, they work hard to make their school hours count!

My Project

Small group work is an essential element to a successful classroom. When I'm working with my guided reading groups, I often want to demonstrate how to use reading strategies effectively or pull text evidence from a text and input it into a graphic organizer, project, or piece of writing.

Sometimes I want to show the students a video of a concept or idea or draw a picture to make what we are discussing reach students of different learning styles.

This iPad will help me to bring my instruction to life AND collect notes on my readers and their individual needs without having to write it out longhand and input into my computer later.

In addition, the portability of the iPad will help me bring real-life examples of ideas straight to a student's desk, instead of asking them to come to mine as I do now.

Overall, the iPad will bring an additional flexibility to my room that I am currently lacking.
