Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Teaching students in New York City is a unique and exciting experience because the students are unique and exciting. Our Queens middle school represents students from all over the world. Just this year, I have students from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Poland, and China. Although my students struggle with learning disabilities and speech and language impairments, they put forth tremendous efforts to make academic gains each year! Many do this while simultaneously learning to speak English.
Students with disabilities are too often marginalized by society, and not given enough platforms to share their excellence and abilities.
Many of my students are also faced with the challenge of being immigrants and or having parents that are immigrants. The vast majority of my students also live in homes without computers and tablets. Although some have access to smartphones, they often do not have internet and or wifi at their home. They deserve to work with state of the art technology in the classroom just like everyone else.
My Project
Sparking imagination and engaging STEM students this year just got a whole lot more exciting! With iPad, and my Apple teacher certification, I can now show students some ways we can use apps to create and design content, analyze data, sketch diagram and code.
All students will be able to learn math and science at a deeper level than ever before with iPad.
It features a front and back facing camera so students can learn from each other while being engaged in critical thinking skills. They will love learning coding.
