Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach students with autism. My students are very special because they are very loving and appreciate everything they get. Most of my students are nonverbal and require a communication device in order to communicate their basic needs and wants, and some of them have difficulties communicating their needs and that's why sometimes they can get violent. Most of my students do not get exposed to technology or going out to eat at a sit-down restaurant. My students are deprived of a lot of things, and I want to help them to get exposure to a touch screen computer so they can be able to manage it by themselves in order to learn the ABC and watch educational videos on it when they are working independently. My student have a lot potential therefore I enjoy teaching them and loved to see when they accomplish their yearly goal.

My Project

I'm requesting these materials to reinforce my teaching since the alternative curriculum is very limited. My students will benefit from these materials because they need pictures as well as sensory materials. They also need vocabulary words in order to practice what is being thought in the classroom. One of my students will be able to extend his reading vocabulary by practicing with the CVC vocabulary flashcards. They are visual learners and for that reason, I want to reinforce what I'm teaching with visuals.

Students in the autism spectrum love to see colorful pictures, and some of these materials will provide those needs for my students.

The story book I am requesting is for them to practice reading when they are working independently. I also have to laminate a lot of pictures for them since I have a picture schedule for each student.

Thank you for your support for my students. They are amazing and appreciate everything they get.
