Enhancing Our Learning Environment With A Colorful, Inspiring Carpet
My students need a comfortable, inviting rug to gather on for class discussions, read alouds, and other learning experiences.
This project expired on October 11, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My second grade students are curious about the world around them. They come to school every day with smiles on their faces eager to learn. Their energy is contagious! They don't want to spend the whole day sitting in a chair at a desk so I am working to create a classroom with flexible seating.
My group of students work together to create a sense of community.
They look out for each other and want everyone to be successful. They take pride in their own work and that of their peers. They work cooperatively and enjoy opportunities to share with each other.
This carpet will be the central gathering place in our classroom. It will set the tone for cooperative learning as we come together to learn and share ideas. It will also add to the flexible seating in my classroom by allowing the children an alternative to sitting at their tables all day.
Children need to have opportunities to choose where they will work and with whom.
By having a large area rug that is inviting, those children who need a change of position or location can continue to work. This also adds to their sense of community as they take turns sitting in different areas and working together.
The whimsical nature of this particular carpet will inspire some creative thought as they make connections between the letters and the pictures.
