Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are fun loving 9 and 10-year-olds who always have a story to tell, a joke to share, or a smile that will brighten your day. My students love school. They like trying new things all the time. They are truly kind, inquisitive, and fun. The students from our school come from many diverse backgrounds (racial and socioeconomic) as well as many academic levels which makes for wonderful discussions but also has allowed the students to become more empathetic through their interactions. They love hands-on experiments, games, and learning about our planet.

The students in our school live in a very large city but most have very limited experiences outside of our neighborhood.

That is why it is so important for me to expose the students to as many new and exciting ways to learn as possible. My goal for them is to be proud of their achievements but also to realize everyone has different talents that are equally as important in life. It is important to me that I show them that social skills and character education work hand in hand with academics.

My Project

Having a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will give me access to so many original resources that I could use in my classroom. This year with digital instruction, I learned that technology really can enhance our curriculum. I want to continue to add resources into my lesson plans that allow the students to experience learning in a variety of ways. Resources created by other teachers are a great way to stay up to date with new approaches to teaching our core subject areas.

Each new resource purchased gives my students new opportunities to learn in another way besides our textbooks.

I have utilized the website Teachers Pay Teachers to find lessons and projects to help put a new spin on what I am teaching to my students. The reason this website is so great is that teachers understand what students respond to and what works for students to learn. So many other resources are made by companies that have people that have not been in the classroom for years creating their content.
