My Project
This project is to acquire Caldecott Medal award winning books in my classroom. These Caldecott Medal is awarded to the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children. These books will enhance my classroom teaching by promoting reading engagement and storytelling skills. Beautifully illustrated books help children develop visual comprehension, spark their imagination, and help instill a love for reading in early childhood. Many components of teaching and learning are often computer-based or using the classroom SmartBoard.
Nothing is more crucial to develop reading skills than putting actual books in children’s hands.
They need to wonder at beautiful pictures and engage with stories. Children need to turn actual pages. Children have a sense of accomplishment when they finish a book and can tell someone about what read or looked at.
The Caldecott Medal books in this project represent diverse and interesting stories from influential individuals to fictional stories of a dog having an adventure in a big city to a book that uses paper cutting for the illustrations. My goal is to eventually have a complete set of Caldecott Medal winning books in my classroom. Your support of this project will help make that a reality.
