Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from a diverse and high poverty population. They are hardworking and enthusiastic about learning. Every day, they come to school despite hardships and engage in rigorous instruction. Our students take pride in our school. We are their extended family, and they count on us to educate and guide them every day. We have a large group of immigrant students. They are in our classrooms with little or no English skills. Despite their struggles, we perform at a high level.
My Project
I am thrilled to initiate this 21st century project for our school! This project will bring our library/computer lab space to life. The technology needed will be for all students at our school. I am asking for a projector, Apple TV, and iPad to help bring 21st century skills to our school. An Apple TV has the ability to mirror a screen like an interactive whiteboard can. Apple’s technology has the ability to stream a live view of whatever is on your IOS devise to a larger screen. It can mirror the teacher’s iPad, the students’ iPads, and even a MacBook.
Educational technology like an Apple TV can enhance student learning by allowing teachers to use a variety of different teaching methods.
Not all students learn the same, and a TV in the classroom can allow students to interact with information in a way that better suits their individual needs. Apple TV can enhance student learning, assist teachers, teach research skills, provide choices for student assessment, strengthen media and technology literacy and much more.
We need to bring more 21st century tools to our students and teachers. In the next several years, students will be asked to take online assessments. Our students will need to learn how to read text online and how to annotate and comprehend what is being asked. They will need to be able to type to demonstrate writing skills. They also will have to solve math problems and navigate a keyboard to use the tools.
I know this project will touch the lives of all students and families and make a difference in their learning.
