My third grade students are full of life and are continuously seeking out ways to reach their full learning potential. My students live in an impoverished area of Cleveland and many, if not most of my students, do not have access to the Internet or computers at home.
Teaching to the 21st-century student is impossible when technology is unavailable.
Unfortunately, our school district does not meet the needs of these 21st-century learners as technology is minimal in the classroom. The desire to learn to use a variety of technology is very high in third grade. The students are growing up and want to feel like they are acquiring higher skills. It is important to tap into these desires and to encourage them to explore new areas and to learn how wonderful and helpful resources can be on the Internet.
My Project
This project will increase the technology in my 3rd grade classroom and will give my students more access to a variety of learning programs that I purchase, earn through grant awards, or are free to everyone.
This Lenovo Chromebook will give students access to different tools needed to broaden their experiences with technology.
Students will be able to work alone or in pairs, on a variety of activities in ALL subject areas. We currently use RAZ KIDS for reading practice, REFLEX MATH for math fact practice, Frontrowed for math and ELA practice as well as MOBYMAX for a variety of practice in all subjects. We will also use the word processing program to create writing for many purposes and audiences.
This Lenovo Chromebook will increase student achievement in my classroom and help the students to meet the requirements of our state to pass to 4th grade. These materials truly can change their lives and impact their futures.
