Inspire these students to have more learning opportunities through the use of an iPad in the classroom. The iPad will engage my students while giving them many powerful learning experiences.
I teach in an urban school district in Colorado Springs, CO.
I enjoy coming to school and teaching these bright 5th graders. My students are extremely hard working and inquisitive. They have a strong desire to learn and I am always trying to give them the resources they need to thrive academically. They are also extremely imaginative and looking for an outlet for their creativity.
The iPad would positively impact our classroom in several ways. I could use it to launch a lesson with video or audio, have students view a video clip and then explore in a small group, or have students work with one of the wonderful educational applications available based on what their individual needs are. The iPad would provide quick and easy access to these programs that will allow my students to acquire the skills they need to become proficient readers and problem solvers.
I appreciate that students can use it in pairs or a small group while I work hands-on with another group of students. The iPad offers students automatic feedback and affords us more opportunities to differentiate. It also captivates them and helps them stay focused on learning vital academic skills.
I know this iPad would infuse our classroom with a dazzling array of meaningful and magical moments of learning.
As a teacher, it is vital that I engage as many students as possible and help them discover how to learn and to be successful in school. When this happens, they will in turn show others how to become engaged, successful citizens who will become essential to making our community stronger.
