My Project

A Glowforge Aura Laser Engraver and Cutter Machine printer will enhance hands-on learning and provide 3rd - 5th grade students with the opportunity to explore and create detailed 3D models of local natural resource sites, local historical buildings, and renewable energy systems. This cutting-edge technology will support our annual projects by having students tasked with researching and building accurate models of significant environmental and historical landmarks, fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. The Glowforge Aura Laser Engraver and Cutter Machine will provide a dynamic, interactive way for students to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts, creating a lasting impact on their education and their understanding of science, history, and sustainability.

My goals for this project are:

1: Enable students to design and create 3D models of natural resource sites, historical buildings, and renewable energy systems to enhance their understanding of these topics.

2: Foster collaboration and problem-solving skills by encouraging students to work together to design, build, and refine their models.

3: Integrate technology into the classroom to prepare students for future learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

4: Provide the tactile experience of constructing models, which is essential for deeper comprehension. As well as offering, an engaging and creative outlet for students to express their understanding of complex academic subjects.

I work with identified gifted and talented students as well as high achievers. The schools my students attend are Title I schools which it makes it hard to purchase higher price items, such as a Glowforge.

If this project is funded, it will have a lasting impact, as the Glowforge Aura will be available for use in future years. The knowledge and skills gained from using this technology will be valuable for students as they progress in their academic careers.
