My Students
I am a third-grade teacher. A lot of my students are English Language Learners. I have a high Hispanic population. I also have several students with special needs. They are from low-income families.
I have been recently transferred to this school and I would like to meet the vast needs of my students.
I want to see them develop strong reading, writing and math skills so they can have a good future. It has been proven that children who are reading on grade level at the end of third grade stand a greater chance of success in the future.
My Project
English is a second language for the majority of my students. They can benefit from using this daily journal to enhance their reading, writing and comprehension skills. The students are already struggling to master the English language and any extra resource they have would be beneficial. I have used daily language journals in the past and they have helped my students to improve their skills. It is a Do Now activity that the students can do independently. They can ask for help when it is needed. I appreciate your support and your willingness to help my students learn and grow daily.
