Enhancing Focus and Learning in 12th Grade Government and Economics

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a twelfth grade government and economics teacher, I am committed to creating an engaging and productive learning environment for my students. This year, I’ve noticed that many of my students are distracted by their phones and often come to class without having had a nutritious snack. To address these challenges, I am seeking support for a project that will enhance their focus and overall classroom experience.
What We Need:
Nutrient-Dense Snacks: Many of my students come to class hungry, which makes it difficult for them to concentrate. By providing healthy snacks, I can ensure they have the energy they need to engage in discussions about government policies and economic principles.
Black Ink for Printing: Our school’s printer is currently broken, and I often need to provide handouts and materials for my students. Having black ink will allow me to print essential resources that support their learning.
A Laminator: With a laminator, I can create durable, reusable materials that will help reinforce key concepts in government and economics. This will not only enhance the quality of our resources but also allow us to create a more interactive learning environment.
Fidget Toys: To help students stay focused and engaged, I want to introduce fidget toys into the classroom. These tools can provide a productive outlet for restlessness and help limit distractions from phones and other devices.
By providing these resources, I aim to create a classroom environment where students can thrive without the distractions of screens and hunger. The snacks will keep them energized, the ink will allow for better instructional materials, and the fidget toys will support their focus.
