My students need Amazon Fire tablets to help enhance their reading and math skills!

My Students
My students come from a high-poverty low-income community. They live in the poorest county of New Jersey. Some of my students' parents work 2-3 jobs to take care of the bare necessities of everyday life. While their parents want the very best for them, the extra things in life may not be able to be provided. About 75% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and cannot readily afford materials to help enhance their education.
My students have faced many challenges in their young lives where school tends to be their only constant.
In our 1st grade classroom, we like to keep things exciting. There are a lot of important skills that my 1st graders need to master before they are ready for 2nd grade. They love working with each other and learning new things!
My Project
Technology has become a huge resource in education! In 1st grade, these tablets would be an asset to help students independently work on phonics and reading skills, or practice their math facts. My kiddos love listening to stories which helps build their reading fluency and comprehension, among other things. They are able to practice sight words, and blending words to help make them better readers. Students are able to use programs such as ABC Mouse, Starfall, and RAZ kids. These apps help build their confidence in reading while they are having fun.
Unfortunately, not all my students have access to technology at home.
Providing my students technology will help them to continue to thrive.
