Enhancing Curriculum Through Picture Books

My Students
One goal I have in my classroom is to start every morning with a read aloud that ties in with what we are learning about each day. My challenge with this goal is I lack the resources I need to achieve it.
My students enjoy reading and building their reading stamina. They are lovers of all types of books and will read most anything. Their favorite part of our day is what we call "Stamina Time," where they get a few minutes each day to sit somewhere cozy and quietly read. They also love our read aloud time, where we read through chapter books together.
My Project
My students and I will use these carefully selected titles to enhance our reading curriculum. Each title goes along with a skill and standard that I will be teaching. With these titles, I will be able to begin many school days with a picture book that ties in with the skills and standards we're learning about. These books will increase student engagement and comprehension of our first and second grade reading and language arts standards.

Having these titles for my students will greatly enhance their learning and understanding of skills and standards I teach in the classroom. It will also help me to be able to read aloud to them and keep their love of listening and reading new stories alive.
