Enhance Student Learning With One-To-One Technology
Help me give my students more technology during these unprecedent times by using computers as a one-to-one device whether in the classroom or distance learning.
Our school has many different student abilities with many students utilizing limited resources within the classroom to build knowledge during very unprecedented times; some being special needs students, multicultural students who have not used these types of resources In the past nor have them available at home. This year is especially important to having one-to-one computers so students are able to navigate and practice on the necessary programs and apps. As the last year in elementary school, students need to have technology mastered going into middle school, as well as changing to distance learning at moments notice due to Covid-19 or smoke.
Our school and students live in a time of ongoing change and it would mean the world to them to utilize more tools and resources to build learning while allowing a deeper understanding of Common Core Standards and thinking outside the box.
My students are very eager to learn and would love the opportunity to grow with technology skills while having a one-to-one device. Using technology devices will allow so many different opportunities for these diverse students that allows excitement, growth, knowledge, and experience.
My Project
My students are missing out on a normal classroom environment this year. They have been working so hard even with the strict guidelines, due to Covid, they are given. I am hoping to allow them more technology use since we have gone to utilizing much of the online curriculum and resources available so they are ready for middle school.
These computers will continue to enhance the use of technology and online learning to better support students in the classroom that I strive to create.
My classroom technology lab cart is a place that my students really enjoy reading online, practicing math facts, creating Power Point projects, typing up writing assignments, as well as accessing online curriculum independently! Every student computer in the cart is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to access technology.
With these new computers, students will be able to choose from a variety of online applications and resources to work independently at their own grade level while getting more support specifically catered to their needs. As my students will be heading to middle school next year and be required to use technology a lot more than they have access to now, the best way to increase their knowledge of useful applications and technology skills is to use these programs more, and allow them to explore necessary programs. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in the use of technology, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with computer skills, online programs and curriculum, as well as digital citizenship.
