Enhance Student Learning Through Collaboration

My students need round tables for our classroom so that they are better able to collaborate together with partners, and in small groups.

My Students

The students in my fourth grade classroom are driven, talented, and caring individuals. They are a part of a small school, where they are able to form close relationships with their peers and teachers. The majority of my students come from homes in the country or live on farms. These students are consistently helping their families through intense farm work. The students know the meaning of hard work and the importance of helping others. Our town is a tight-knit community where students are able to feel safe and welcomed. Everyone here looks after one another, and most community members care for these children as if they were their own.

My Project

Students will specifically utilize the round tables during partner, and small-group work. We currently have large, rectangular tables which take up extra space in the classroom, and are not conducive to collaborative learning as round tables would be.

Having round tables in our classroom would help students to work more collaboratively with their peers.

One of the most important skills that students must learn is how to work with others in a fair, creative, and productive way. By having round tables in the classroom, I would be better able to provide students with opportunities to develop this 21st century skill.
