Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This LG display will be used remotely as a virtual teaching station. My school is an active member in the School Based Virtual Learning Program through the NYCDOE. I teach AP Computer Science, an Intro to Programming course, and some college courses through the National Education Equity Lab (ASU Cloud Computing and Howard University Data, Ethics and Bias), all of which have hybrid schedules, with some of their learning happening remotely at least once a week. My laptop does not have enough pixel real estate to effectively manage all of the platforms open across the spaces for zoom/google meet, google classroom, our IDEs (code builders), and collaborative education tools like Padlet, all while being able to monitor my students and their interaction in our chat space.

A remote workstation including a larger LG Display will enable me to set up direct screencast support for code demos, promote student voice, and monitor my class to maximize interaction and engagement in my lessons that happen both virtually and in-person.

It will allow me to see all of my student's faces and help the virtual environment more directly mimic the in-person classroom setting.

All of my students will benefit from access to this screen sharing and remote class management space as they design, build and debug apps, consider websites and animations built in different programming languages including JavaScript and HTML/CSS throughout the year! This monitor will also help me better support my students with Individual Education Plans and my students designated as multilingual learners, enabling the further display and access of digital entry points and scaffolds. Ultimately this LG display will help me engage students in learning the key CS concepts, ethical discussions around CS, and considerations around AI implications and applications in systems.

Thanks for your consideration!
