This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our podcasts are going well; however, many guest speakers with whom students want to talk are not close enough to come in studio. With a webcam we can not only add video to our feed, but also video conference with anyone anywhere in the field of sports medicine as well as record skill tutorials.

In Texas there is a great diversity of languages and cultures.

Our public high school is made up predominately of low-economic status families. Like most youth, they are rarely without some form of media such as music, videos, or social networking. Also, they are generally more knowledgeable of technology than most adults. We are working with dedicated students who are constantly battling distractions and language barriers. I have incorporated regular visits to our campus's "College Room" where my students are encouraged to prepare for the future. In the College Room we research careers, majors, universities, scholarship applications, and college applications. Most of my students will be the first in their family to attend and graduate from college. It is difficult for parents to know how to prepare a student for college if they have no experience. We are dedicated to helping not only our sports medicine students, but all students move toward pursuing higher education.

My Project

Podcasts are an awesome tool that allows on-demand radio to anyone with Internet access. Our podcasts can build a following due to the content and value of information. As stated before several of our desired guests are not local and cannot physically come to our studio (classroom). The more people we reach, the better our chances of landing high-profile guests. Also, watching live episodes allows the audience to comment, ask questions in the chat rooms, and respond to opinion polls. We will also use the webcam to video chat with other Sports Medicine classes across the country. Sports Medicine involves many hands on skills that must be demonstrated. We plan to also use the webcam to create video tutorials of skills like taping an ankle, performing CPR, or proper rehabilitation techniques. My students need a webcam to revolutionize our podcast, grow our fan base and teach basic skills.

This project will allow us to speak with guest speakers globally and create video tutorials.

Students will learn to create, produce, edit, and finalize quality products. My students will learn responsibility and the satisfaction of a job well done through hard work. We must prepare our students for the real world. Knowing how to plan, create, and finalize projects is a crucial part of success in the work place. Our students will be building the future of education with mobile learning
