Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Research shows that environment is an important element of student engagement-- especially in teenagers.
My students are gifted and honors students.
They show a particular drive and admiration for the learning process, and are receptive to creative and innovative approaches in the classroom. I want to make their classroom experience welcoming, fun, and engaging.
My Project
With the requested materials, students will be liberated from the hard chairs they sit in all day. The yoga balls are proven in educational studies to maintain focus in easily distracted students. The bean bag chairs, rug, and books will provide a comfortable reading environment. The podium, most importantly, will enable me to finally eliminate my desk to free me to move around the room to interact with the students.
My students are teenagers.
Often, there is a focus on providing for elementary students, but it's rare that anyone thinks how environment effects the productivity and drive of teenage students-- when most research shows it is absolutely critical to provide safety, comfort, and engagement. My students will be more successful and focused with your help.
