Help me give my students interactive and cooperative language games to use for language practice in the classroom. I would like to purchase the Lakeshore English Language Learner Games Library to use with students.
The English Learners in our area of Indianapolis come from all over the world! Our school is unique in our township due to the rapid growth of the English Learner population. In the past three years, it has more than tripled. Speaking multiple languages and bringing varied experiences, the students arrive at school eager to learn, and their positive and pleasant attitudes show it!
The English Learners are a joy to work with, as they feel empowered by a newly mastered skill or realize their dedication has paid off as a previously difficult task is now completed with ease.
One student in particular comes to mind because he has made much progress since he began kindergarten. He started speaking very little English, but has always been determined to finish any task he starts. In first grade, I remember how excited and proud he was when his picture was taken for learning all of his sight words! Now in third grade, he is confident and capable and a fluent reader. I am honored to be their teacher and have the priviledge of seeing their progress through multiple years.
My Project
The English Language Learner Games Library will ensure that the students have access to quality activities while they practice English skills. Picture students sitting at their desks working on a packet of worksheets independently.
Now picture what learning will look like with the use of the Games Library: multiple small groups of students all around the room actively engaged while learning Language skills and having fun.
The Games Library will provide enough activities so that all students will be able to participate at the same time. It will also provide them with opportunities to practice all domains of English Proficiency while they are having fun.
Having hands on learning games will benefit the English Learners by being able to interact with each other while working cooperatively. Students will enjoy learning through the use of the games.
