This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a phenomenal and motivated group of fifth-grade scholars; some with IEPs (Individual Education Plans), students new to our country who are learning English for the first time, scholars with various learning styles, readers/mathematicians at various grade levels. Regardless of this, they all work extremely hard every day and love learning about Science, Technology, (particularly coding, making geometrical models) integrated with Art, and tackling Engineering and Mathematical projects. They enjoy Read Alouds and writing in both English and Spanish to express their thoughts and concerns about the world. The resources requested here will support my newcomer students and all my English learners improve their skills.

The reading, writing, and, math journals will help support our district-adopted language arts/math curriculum and help 5th grade Math and English Language Standards be more accessible to all my newcomer students and English language learners.

Many of these students can't easily access the fifth-grade standards because their primary language is not English, but these resources will make it easier for them and also provide extra practice at various grade levels. The math journals have short, reading word problems that will make it easier for my newcomer students to understand and solve.
