Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a wonderful group of 4th graders. They are eager and motivated to learn. My goal is to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students to give the best that they possibly can, every day.
I have several English Language Learners that fall significantly below the grade level in most (if not all) academic areas.
This means I need to provide the accommodations they need to learn the 4th grade material (which is sometimes much higher than they're able to grasp). I want to learn more so that I can help all of my students be successful.
As a teacher, I try to always keep the compassion alive in me, especially for my students. We see these children every day and sometimes don't know their struggles, their worries (tests can be a lot of pressure!) and there is no better way to connect with your students than understanding them. Doing so, I am learning on a daily basis that they need things that I cannot provide on my own. That is where generous donors from DonorsChoose.org come in--they (you) make this a reality for them. My Project
Teaching English Language Learners require a specific combination of the knowledge, teaching strategies, & concepts. I want to complete 2 courses that will further expand my instruction to reach ELL’s in more effective ways.
Teaching my students real world math concepts such as financial literacy will give them the skills to apply their knowledge to real life scenarios that they can face daily.
However, I will need coursework that will equipped me for appropriate instructional processes that ELL’s require to improve mastery of the subject. With these last two courses, I will have successfully completed all the courses & will be able to reach more students within our diverse community!
