This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a Kindergarten ESL teacher. I work with children who are learning to speak English in primarily small group settings. I am able to pull students during certain periods of the day. My room is an office space. I do not have a whiteboard, and it was not typically used as a room to teach in. I work very hard to give my students quality instruction with what I have. However, I could use these materials to better give my students materials and resources to better their learning.
These are materials I feel are staple items in any classroom, big or small.
The whiteboard is a desktop/tabletop board, so it is easy to fit into my room but large enough for a small group, and is an essential piece for teaching. The magnetic dry erase pockets are for my students to use and have hands on experience with words we learn. It is another essential piece to learning. I can have students work on various topics, such as letters, heart words, word families, and newcomer topics. The elkonin boxes will help students break down new words, and make them be able to decode words and spell words out better. It will also allow them to be hands on.
