My Students

I work in a small, rural school with a collection of students from many small but different towns. My dream is to make each student fall in love with reading. The first step to becoming a lifelong reader is finding the book that starts the domino effect.

It is my goal to change the way students think by changing the way they think about learning.

With your help, we can change not only the lives of the students in my room, but the lives of the individuals in the community. I believe that we need to start with our students in the classroom in order to spread positivity and cultural change, and I hope we can work together to accomplish this.

My Project

Next year I am teaching middle school again for the first time in a few years and I want to bring my students to the magical world of Harry Potter.

It is my belief that "Harry Potter" will one day be viewed as a classic in as much as "The Scarlet Letter" and "Moby Dick" are.

My seventh graders will use "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" to navigate their first year in the world of high school English class. Be it analyzing theme, or formatting quotes, everything is a little more fun in the land of Hogwarts with Harry, Hermione, and Ron at your side!
