This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I will use the funds to enhance the learning of literature for high school students in a dynamic and meaningful way. Right now, we are studying Shakespeare’s Othello, and I’m developing interactive literature projects that bring the story to life. These hands-on activities are designed to help students explore themes like identity, power, and justice, while also improving their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. My goal is to make classic literature accessible, relevant, and exciting for every student, regardless of their background or ability level.

I teach in a richly diverse community where many of my students face economic and personal challenges outside the classroom.

Despite these obstacles, they show up every day eager to learn and grow. With 25 years of teaching experience, I’ve seen how the right tools and encouragement can transform a student’s educational journey.
